You've booked an appointment, now what?
Upon arrival to your first visit, you'll be asked to fill out new patient forms. Next you'll proceed to the treatment room where we will have a chat and you will be asked questions about the reason for your visit as well as questions about your overall health. Best not to brush your tongue on the day of your acupuncture visits (but you can brush your teeth as normal) because we look at your tongue as a reflection of your internal health, much like a reflexologist maps out the hands and feet. In addition, we will may feel the pulse on both your wrists, palpate certain areas of the body or perform muscle/orthopedic tests to confirm a condition.
What should I wear to my acupuncture treatment(s)?
It's best to wear accessible clothing: pants that easily roll up to the knees, sleeves that roll past the elbows and open access to the abdomen. We have soft towels for draping should we need to access a certain area of the body.
Should I eat before my treatment?
It's best to have eaten a light snack within an hour of your appointment. Please let us know if you haven't eaten within three hours of your appointment, as this may affect your treatment.
Is Acupuncture safe?
Acupuncture is considered safe when performed by a licensed practitioner using sterile needles. Lisa is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of New York and use only sterile needles for singular use.
What happens if I'm running late or need to reschedule/cancel an appointment?
Every effort is made to accommodate late patients up to 15 minutes after their scheduled appointment slot, but they may be asked to wait, or their treatment may be cut short in order to treat on-time patients. Patients arriving more than 15 minutes late are considered canceled. As a courtesy, if you miss your scheduled appointment time and another appointment time is available same day you can reschedule without charge. Please call the office to schedule.
24-Hour Rescheduling/Cancellation Policy
If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment you can do so through the website, calling the office or emailing at least
24-hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. We understand that life happens and schedules change, but please understand that in fairness to staff and patients, we have established this policy in order to honor the time set aside for you. Although advanced notice is appreciated, if sufficient time is not given, the full fee will be charged to the patient.
